Students are invited to join us on Wednesdays from 10:00am to 2:00pm for a Waldorf-inspired schedule that includes: Creative Movement, Art, Lunch, PE, and Main Lesson.
Main Lesson Teacher: Lynlee Holloway
CREATIVE MOVEMENT
Students will tap into their imagination and spontaneous nature using movement. Creative movement techniques help individuals channel energy into motion and engage their auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and tactile senses. This class encourages body awareness, balance coordination, memory skills, and improved spatial awareness. Students will have fun learning to work individually or in groups while challenging their auditory and physical skills through activities such as rhythmic clapping exercises, echoing patterns, acting out stories through movement, using balls or other props to throw and catch to music, and much more!
Art
In this class we will investigate and experiment with different mediums through process art. Process art focuses on the creative process rather than the end result. Students will familiarize themselves with different techniques and how the materials respond. By doing so, they are able to gain confidence in their creative expression.
PE
In this class students will participate in various physical activities that promote learning through movement and play, encourages teamwork, and helps develop motor skills.
Main Lesson
The main lesson is a deep dive into a subject for a period of time. Important skills will be incorporated, such as writing and composition, grammar, literature, the arts, math, vocabulary, spelling, and more. Storytelling, art activities, practice with writing, grammar, spelling, poetry, and sharing with the class may all be infused into this time and the teacher will differentiate instruction based on student skill level. Example topics include: Anatomy & Physiology, Measurement & Home Economics, and Human and Animal. This class will include engaging projects and activities to reinforce each topic.
