Students are invited to join us on Fridays from 10:00am to 3:00pm for a Waldorf-inspired schedule that includes: Main Lesson, Lunch, Yoga/Mindfulness, and Art.

Main Lesson Teacher: Lee Butler

Main Lesson

During main lesson time, the teacher focuses on a central theme or topic, often incorporating storytelling, imaginative play, movement, art, and practical activities to engage children in a holistic learning experience. Subjects that may be infused into your student’s main lesson time include:

  • Form Drawing

  • Language Arts / Letters

  • Math (Quality of Numbers, “From Counting to Math”, Four Mathematical Processes)

Additional activities may include:

  • Circle Time- This is a beautiful time of connection, as we bridge home life and school life.

  • Artistic Projects- There will be a focus on artistic activities that encourage the child’s natural sense of beauty and color.

  • Outdoor and Play Times- These activities will be incorporated into the day so that students have a natural balance of active play time and time to quietly focus.

Yoga/Mindfulness

This class begins with an alignment-based yoga practice to build strength, mobility, and body awareness. We then take those physical skills to our mental and emotional lives. We learn skills to help us regulate emotions, navigate fear, increase self-compassion and self-confidence, and strengthen our relationships.

Art

In this Waldorf-inspired art class, children will be immersed in a world of color, texture, and movement as they explore art through a holistic, sensory-rich approach. Rooted in the principles of Waldorf early childhood education, this class nurtures creativity, imagination, and a deep connection to the natural world while fostering fine motor skills and inner harmony. This class encourages a sense of wonder, imaginative storytelling, and joyful self-expression.

Activities include:

  • Wet-on-Wet Watercolor Painting – Using luminous, flowing colors, children experience how colors blend and interact, mirroring the fluidity of emotions and nature’s rhythms. These sessions encourage a sense of wonder, patience, and an intuitive understanding of color.

  • Beeswax Modeling – Working with warm, pliable beeswax strengthens the fingers, refines motor skills, and engages the will as children transform simple forms into meaningful creations inspired by the seasons and nature stories.

  • Crayon and Chalk Drawing – Using block crayons and soft pastels, children explore form, movement, and storytelling through images inspired by nature, fairy tales, and seasonal themes.

  • Nature Crafting – Using natural materials such as wool, leaves, and wood, children create simple seasonal crafts that connect them to the rhythms of the earth and develop a reverence for the beauty around them.
