Students are invited to join us on Wednesdays from 10:00am to 3:00pm for a Waldorf-inspired schedule that includes: Main Lesson, Lunch, Creative Movement, and Lego Engineering.
Main Lesson Teacher: Taylor Bell
Main Lesson
The main lesson is the academic cornerstone of each day and is planned around a block system so that students may dive deep into a subject. This unique period gives students time for in-depth exploration of mathematics, sciences, language arts, and social studies, while utilizing main lesson books in which students record their academic and artistic reflections of learning. The teacher may use any or all of the lively arts (storytelling, drawing, painting, modeling, drama, etc.) to investigate the material and engage the students. Subjects that may be infused into your student’s main lesson time include:
Language Arts (Legends and Saints, Fables)
Math (Place Value & Times Tables, Intro to Time & Times Tables, “Bringing it All Together”)
Additional activities may include:
Circle Time- This is a beautiful time of connection, as we bridge home life and school life.
Artistic Projects- There will be a focus on artistic activities that encourage the child’s natural sense of beauty and color.
Outdoor and Play Times- These activities will be incorporated into the day so that students have a natural balance of active play time and time to quietly focus.
CREative Movement
Students will tap into their imagination and spontaneous nature using movement. Creative movement techniques help individuals channel energy into motion and engage their auditory, visual, kinesthetic, and tactile senses. This class encourages body awareness, balance coordination, memory skills, and improved spatial awareness. Students will have fun learning to work individually or in groups while challenging their auditory and physical skills through activities such as rhythmic clapping exercises, echoing patterns, acting out stories through movement, using balls or other props to throw and catch to music, and much more!
Lego engineering
This hands-on class introduces students to the fundamentals of engineering and structural design using LEGO bricks. Through interactive building challenges, students will explore key engineering concepts such as stability, load distribution, and architectural design. They will learn about real-world structures, including bridges, towers, and simple machines, and apply their knowledge to construct functional models. The course fosters creativity, problem-solving, and teamwork, culminating in a final project where students design and build their own unique LEGO structure.
