Students are invited to join us on Fridays from 10:00am to 3:00pm for a Waldorf-inspired schedule that includes: Leadership 101, Yoga/Mindfulness, Lunch, and Main Lesson.

Main Lesson Teacher: Kristy Hall / Biology Main Lesson: Cathy Madison

Leadership 101

In Leadership 101, we will be embarking on a journey together to explore the multifaceted concepts of leadership and service. Our initial focus will be on collaboratively defining what leadership truly means to each of us, and brainstorming a wide range of ideas related to both leadership and service within our community.

A key component of this class will involve practical skill development, specifically in goal setting. We'll work on establishing clear, achievable goals, both individually and as a group. We will spend time identifying and sharing the unique assets and strengths that each of us brings to the group, and this collaborative approach will culminate in the exciting opportunity to develop and execute a meaningful kindness project that will allow us to put our newfound understanding of leadership and service into action.

YOGA/MINDFULNESS

This class begins with an alignment-based yoga practice to build strength, mobility, and body awareness. We then take those physical skills to our mental and emotional lives. We learn skills to help us regulate emotions, navigate fear, increase self-compassion and self-confidence, and strengthen our relationships.

Main Lesson

The main lesson is the academic cornerstone of each day and is planned around a block system so that students may dive deep into a subject. This unique period gives students time for in-depth exploration of mathematics, sciences, language arts, and social studies, while utilizing main lesson books in which students record their academic and artistic reflections of learning. The teacher may use any or all of the lively arts (storytelling, drawing, painting, modeling, drama, etc.) to investigate the material and engage the students.
